SAT import for SolidDesigner
Hi all, I'm investigating the level of interest for a SAT import capability within SolidDesigner. As you know SolidDesigner currently only has a SAT export capability. In order to pursue this further I need the following information: - What is the main use model for SAT import? - What type of data is mainly being imported - eg. Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk MDT, other CAD or CAM systems? (please specify) - What is the benefit of offering this solution? - Any other feedback you might have regarding SAT translators for SolidDesigner? Sridhar Nagarajan. CoCreate Software

re: SAT import for SolidDesigner
Sridhar, I am currently in need of the translator. One of the vendors we obtain 3D models from uses SAT only for some specific parts.

re: SAT import for SolidDesigner
I'd like to see this translator, too. I have used SAT files to send to vendors who make parts with surfaces that can't be accurately described in a drawing. Sometimes in order to keep file sizes managable I will make a file that contains only a fraction of the parts in an assembly and it is easy to select the wrong parts or to miss some. When exporting something I always like to be able to read what I wrote, to be sure that the 3D model really contains what I think it does.
