Warning/Repair option for Modify Frame > Type (Annotation)

We change the frame type of an Annotation drawing quite often.
When we do this, all Sketches and Texts that are attached to the old Frame will be distroyed. Since we put a lot of Sketches and Texts on some of our drawings, we have to be aware of this; besides that, it's quite a lot of work to change the owner of all these sketches.
It would be nice if Annotation gives a warning if I try to modify the Frame Type, when the old Frame has elements attached to the old Frame.
Even better would be if Annotation would reattach all of these elements to the parent sheet, for instance.
In any case, I don't want to lose stuff!

Kind Regards,
Jaap Kramer

right now Annotator can not decide whether an element belongs to the frame (the MI file on disk) or have been added.
Specially when loading an existing drawing from somewhere.
You know the am_general_move command (edit menu)?

why did you put that stuff to the frame and not to the sheet as owner?

Hi,

Ah, I see the problem. I would possibly mess up the structure of the frame of my drawing. Hadn't realized that.
We initialy had the additional sketches have the frames as owner, because if you would move the frame, the sketches would move along nicely, but later on we realized that if you replace the frame, the sketches are gone, too :-(

Jaap Kramer

Did you expect that your additional sketches are moving WITH the frame but are not deleted with the frame? When they move with the frame, they will die, too

a change frame type : is a "delete frame"(!), "load new frame" and "move new frame to old frame's position".. so about..

TIP: put all your "frame" Sketches and other things which will keep when frame is changed into ONE additional sketch with owner=sheet. Then you can move around all these stuff with the move sketch command again. Further more you can store that sketch (within the adjusted contents) to file system and reuse it for other drawings or other sheets.. but this depends now on your way to work.

Yes, we were painfully aware of that; I just hadn't realized from the start that the frame might change later on (yes, stupid...)

Yes, thanks, good plan!
