Lightbulb Modeling - Compare Parts (Done in OneSpace Modeling 2007)

I would like to be able to have two versions of a part
loaded and graphically compare them so I can see what
was changed. I am envisioning something like the Clash
command where I can see where material was added
and where it was removed.

Smile It's already in v11.5!

You can play with "version" with v11.5. When you load a .pkg, you just need to specify that package is an other revision and you can compare what you want.

Please read the help about that new feature.

No it's not

The versioning capability in 11.5/6 is a wonderful capability, but
it is not what I am looking for. Versioning allows me two have
two versions of the same part loaded and preserve SysID's. It
also allows me to replace an old version of a part in an
assembly with a newer one. It does not, however, easily
allow me to see what changed between 2 versions of a part.
I can do it manually by visually inspecting the parts. But I want
analytic tools that tell me, for example, what faces different
between the versions. What I want is similar to the Revision
Check capability in ME10 (excuse me, OneSpace Designer
Drafting). With that, you can see which elements are the same
in both drawings, which ones are only in one and which are only
in the other.

That's a good enhancement. Sorry about the misunderstood.

I agree with you, Pete. I'm sometimes also looking for this kind of stuff. There's Clash command which show's you the still common 'solid'.

I'm missing something like a 'negativ-clash', or much better (as the 2DDrafting RC): You have version A and B of a part: subtract A from B create a green solid (material added), subtract B from A creates a red solid (material removed) and in addition with clash command, you see what is kept. This could be done some integration kit stuff... (more to get a feeling whether this is the right way). this reminds me to the update colors of annotation...
