Annotation - associative vert & horiz references
This issue came up as a question from another forum user, but I have run into the same problem:
In Annotation, I commonly need to dimension an angle from either a vertical or horizonal reference. Often times, its not conveinent or possible to use calculated geometry as a reference. I get around this by generating a manual geometry line and then using it as my reference. The problem is that the manual geometry line is not associative. Having a "Horiz/Vert datum line" command that is tied to the calculated geometry (to say, a vertex) would be helpful. |

What I have done previously is created a reference point. This creates a point at the vertex of an angle. The point is a circle with 2 lines crossing through parallel to the lines of the angle. Typically this is used to indicate the center of a radius.
Add centerlines to the circle giving you your verticle and horizontal reference lines. You can rotate the centerlines if you desire a reference line at another angle. Good Luck Tom |

Using a ref point is great if you have a virtual vertex or corner to use. Also, center lines or symmetry lines can also be used.
However, if you want more flexibility than that, Annotation falls short. |
