Windows GUI drafting Text ref line how?
Hi.
With Windows GUI drafting, I couldn't figure out how to create a ref line to a text. Would you tell me how I could draw arrow as shown here? Thank you, for your attention.

Re: Windows GUI drafting Text ref line how?
You can try:
REFLINE Assistance (look in text menu > reference line) or LEADER_LINE (classic interface, text menu > arrow) I'm using an old version of Drafting (10.5 ), but I think they are still available. Regards. Gabriele |

Re: Windows GUI drafting Text ref line how?
Under the TEXT menu, select "Enter RefLine" - "Create". Select your text and place the RefLine. You can then select the Refline and grab the handles to alter as needed.

Re: Windows GUI drafting Text ref line how?
I still have a problem with the command.
When I hit the command, the prompt tells me to pick the element. So, I float the mouse over the letter, then only the very vicinity of the text can be picked and it automatically start drawing the reference line. But then, the line is too close to the letter, so the line overlap the bottom of the text. How can I draw the ref. line slightly below (or away from) the target text? Thank you.

Re: Windows GUI drafting Text ref line how?
Try zooming out: the text became smaller [of course ] and you can select a lower reference point.
Anyway, I prefer to use the old command "LEADER_LINE"; text and line are two different objects, but when you move them (better: stretch them) they don't make me mad (at least with my old version of ME10, refline goes in a crazy direction) Best Regards. Gabriele |

Re: Windows GUI drafting Text ref line how?
The purpose of a reference line is to connect text to some element. As such, it requires you first select the text that the reference line is to be connected to. (Identify source element). Once created, a refline will remain connected to and move with the source element.
In the example you gave, it is not practical to use refline as you do not wish to connect to a source element. You need to use the leader_line command. This command is also found in the Text menu of the Windows User Interface. A leader line can be created in space. It is not necessary for it to be attached to any objects. |

Re: Windows GUI drafting Text ref line how?
Thank you Ukawa and Mike.
Leader_line command made it. Is there a way to set the leader line's default colour other than white? Also, unlike the ref line the leader line cannot be moved or made auto adjustable on the text move, since there are no relationship between the source and the line, am I right? Thank you for your kindnesses. Best regards. At least now I am far well off.
