Intersecting Profiles

Hi Guys - New Question.

I have two extruded profiles that intersect. I need a clean diagonal cut from the inside corner to the outside corner so that both profiles meet. It is a door frame and I need to work out an easy way to get the cut angles for the pressed metal frame.

Is there any way to do this? Been racking my brain for hours.

Re: Intersecting Profiles

You might want to add some more detail since it is not clear to me what you want to do. I don't have Modeling PE so I cannot load the file you attached. You might also want to post to the official Modeling PE forums per this thread.

Typically if you have two intersecting parts and you want to cut one of them so the surfaces match you would use Machine>Remove Material/Subtract to subtract one part from the other.

If you want cut like a picture frame you just need to create a workplane perpendicular to the cut direction, draw a profile including the diagonal that you want, then use Machine>Remove Material/Punch.

Or do you want a compound miter cut similar to what would be used for molding?

Re: Intersecting Profiles

I need a mitre. It's not as easy as doing a 45degree workplane and subtracting. Since different parts of each profile intersect at different points. Picture attached.

I've managed to do it, but it's a very long/hacky method..
