Namespaces

Hello guys....

it's possible to make a list of all namespaces registered in the system?

There's some document, over the guide, that explain INFOS and NAMESPACES to study them?

Thanks

Luca G.

Re: Namespaces

I don't have much experience with this, but my understanding is that a Namespace is a specifier used to separate Infotexts into different groups. This helps avoid name conflicts.

If I remember right this feature was added 4-5 major revisions back. Before that there was just one collection of Infotexts similar to the current default Namespace, so many old macros do not use Namespace specifiers.

Here is what the Programming Reference has to say (I think the first "Infotexts" is a typo and should say "Namespaces").

Quote:
Infotext namespaces
Infotexts are used to separate system infotexts (used by various tools and modules) from the user infotexts. This way name collisions can be avoided and there are no accidental modifications or deletions.
Beyond that there is not much about using them, but basically if you don't want to use the default Namespace you need to add your own namespace specifiers to all the commands you use to work with Infotexts.

Re: Namespaces

See Drafting Help,

Character I

Infotext namespaces

For the listing:
INQ_ENV 8
INQ 900 and then loop over INQ 901 until "END-OF-LIST"
