Question High quality font generation in ME10 ?

I would like to hear from anyone who has experience of creating high quality (artwork ready) ME10 font typefaces using the Font Editor within ME10. Is there any way of automatically creating a precision ME10 font typeface from an existing 'Windowz' font ?

Individual font characters can be created by hand using the Font Editor but this is rather laborious and time consuming ... ... I've tried it!

Hi John,

you can simple USE a truetype font, installed on your windows machine.. it is converted on-the-fly to a 2DDrafting font.

Does this not fit your needs?
Is the quality still too bad?

Hi Wolfgang:

Unfortunately, the 'on-the-fly' TrueType to 2D Drafting font conversion produces reduced font quality when the typefaces are used in graphics artwork masters.

The curved sections within characters are not quite smooth enough. Trying to achieve a smoother curve can be time consuming when working within the ME10 Font Editor grid and element restrictions. I would really like to obtain the best visible mapping between the TT and ME10 generated font shapes. It's a balance between the font grid size and the maximum allowable geom elements within each character.
