Encoding problem with Swedish characters?
Hello,
We have version 13.20. When i write a text on a drawing i can use some typically north European characters ( ÅÄÖ). No problem there, works fine. But if I use these characters in the filename, they become (ÐØÚ) when i save the .mi file on disk. The same thing happens when i export a textfile from a Macro. I have understood that this has to do with encodings, but i cant get a grip on what encoding ME 10 uses when it saves/exports files, or for that matter, if it is possible to work around this problem, either when I save the .mi file, or when I export a .txt file from a macro ? In newer versions, this thing works, but it is not an option to buy the newer version. I would be very grateful if somebody could help me /Tobias |

Re: Encoding problem with Swedish characters?
As you already observed, Unicode support was added in more recent versions, which allows to use pretty much any character. Memory is hazy on this, but I think we added Unicode support for v15.
Older versions of ME10 relied on the HP Roman8 and Shift-JIS encodings (Western European languages and Japanese, respectively). See http://demo.icu-project.org/icu-bin/convexp?conv=hp-roman8 for an encoding table for HP Roman8.
