Moving Parts

I have a part I have used in multiple assemblies. I try and locate in a new assembly and it wont allow me to save part in Model Manager without overwritting in other assemblies. If I say yes it will now move that part in other assemblies with reference to nothing (out in space). It only seems to happen with a few parts.

Have I "shared" that part...or somehow locked its location to world coordinates or something?

Thank you

Re: Moving Parts

This sounds awful strange, it makes me wonder if there has been some other change to the part - perhaps base color, some geometry change, etc. Generally speaking you should avoid using set modify or reserve on any parts you don't need to, to protect you from such issues.

Maybe if you reload the part from ModelManager, this will fix the problem in your package/session.

Re: Moving Parts

Did you use that part to a new drawing?
If yes it contains now new view sets that make this part changed.

Re: Moving Parts

Hi GZO,

Are you moving the part using the Position command or the "move" command and selecting all faces? What you describe sounds like you are using the move command to move an entire part, which might sound like the right thing to do but its not and will result in what you describe as the part moving in the contect of other assemblies. Be sure to use the Position command to move an entire part.
