file big in size

Why is this file so big in size (25Mb) that it has drawn only one line?

Re: file big in size

Hi Andrea,

I haven't information about history file.

In order to reduce the file size, store file. In my case (ME10 19) the new file size is about 2kB.

Inside the original file (~26MB) there are a lot of point definitions (about 174138) in the "Geometry Points Section" (#~61) and many more "Polymarker" (#~62) definitions (about 343157).
When you resave the file, almost these definitions are lost.

You can find other information in meinterface.pdf document (MI Interfacing).

I don't know if ME10 R20 is able to delete unnecessary infos during save/store action, but ME10 R19 does.

Regards.

Re: file big in size

It's part of CD "Cocreate Electronic Manuals" that I received in 2000!
It is old but it could be useful.

In the CCUF (CoCreate User Forum) there two references about it:

https://www.cocreateusers.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-2642.html
https://www.cocreateusers.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2931&highlight=electronic+manuals

Anyway, there isn't any explanation about those unnecessary (I think) information.

Could you explain how you generate this file? What actions did you do? Did you delete geometries, points, texts or others? Did you convert from other CAD?

Re: file big in size

If you open a file with a text editor (notepad, notepad++, etc) you can see some information. ME10 store its information in readable mode (ASCII).

Annotation, instead, store its information in compressed mode (but you can open with a zip program).

I stored once and the size is now only 2kB .

Re: file big in size

The text editor is useful only to view file informations stored in the file.
To reduce the file size, you have to use the ME10 program. How I have already said, with 19 version the size is reduced to 2kB (I don't know if 20 version does).
Try to save the file with a previous version with "Save As..." menu (salva con nome) and select "Drafting xx - Mi y.yy (*.mi)" in the filter (in the lower part of the window).

[xx could be 19, 17, 15 etc]

Re: file big in size

Do you use custom function to save file?

I append the file (1m.mi) after load and save from my installation.
Attached Files
File Type: mi 1m.mi (1.3 KB, 397 views)

Re: file big in size

How I have already said:
If you open a file with a text editor (notepad, notepad++, etc) you can see some information. ME10 store its information in readable mode (ASCII).
You can do with almost any file ...

By the ways, if you start ME10.EXE file without -pelook X, saved files is bigger than normal startup (with -pelook X).

Strange but true
