Forum Name Changes - May 2008
Per a request from CoCreate I have updated some of the forum names and descriptions to reflect the new naming conventions introduced with version 2008.
For those who don't know, "OneSpace" has been dropped from some product names. For example, "CoCreate OneSpace Modeling" is now called "CoCreate Modeling". Prior to 2007 it was "CoCreate OneSpace Designer Modeling" and prior to 2002 it was "CoCreate SolidDesigner". The renaming of CoCreate's products could serve as an example of "what not to do" in future Marketing text books. Ever since they changed the names from SolidDesigner and ME10 it has caused much confusion. Many people who have been using the products for years still refer to them by those old names. I still get Emails from people asking questions about "OneSpace" or "OneSpace Designer" or "Designer" with no clue if they are asking about Modeling or Drafting or something else. At least when people still ask about SolidDesigner or ME10 I know what they mean. I will have to say that I'm happy the names have gotten shorter. I always thought "CoCreate OneSpace Designer Modeling" was way too long and usually just called it Modeling. But I still wonder what was wrong with the names SolidDesigner and ME10? They were short, unique and easy to remember. My only complaint would be they weren't so easy to type (which I did a lot), but still easier than the long names.
