Hello everyone,

I am having an issue where when I install Model Manager on a windows 7 OS it does not work for other users as the default installation takes place in local user appdata. This means each person to use the machine must install model manager for their specific user name. This can be very inconvient when multiple users are using the same CAD laptop or are using a new machine in a conference room for a meeting and want to reference a model.

I have done some tests on vista, and the default location is in the CoCreate folder on the C: drive. When the installation is to this folder, one installation applies to all users. I have tried to immitate this installation location on a windows 7 machine, and got an error. (see attachment)

Has anyone else ran into this issue or know a work around? I can't understand why windows 7 would default to a different folder than in vista and cause this issue, but from the tests I have done across different users and different CPU's with both OSs, this conclusion is consistent.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Brent

I found the solution to this problem. In case this will help anyone else, if you lower your UAC settings on Windows 7 all the way down, it is possible to do a C: drive installation without any errors. This installation will then be available to all users who log onto the computer.

when launching modeling, RIGHT CLICK on the start icon and choose "run as administrator", then go ahead and accept the model manager update....it will install OK.
