HP XW8600 (PW452)
HP XW4600 (PW480)
others workstation ??

an optimal graphical card which could be?
NVIDIA Quadro FX5600
NVIDIA Quadro FX4600
NVIDIA Quadro FX3700
NVIDIA Quadro FX1700

FX4600 and FX5600 are over killing for FEA. They are probably useful for very complicated and huge CAD assembly model.

Which characteristics for a computer (RAM, card mother, processore) I must hold in consideration for having optimal speeds and power of calculation nell' I use of the FEM?

The HP XW8600 would be an ideal machine. The cost and future usage will last years.

If your FEA is more than just structure solving analysis, then by all means add more memory.

I've been an ANSYS user for three years doing structure, thermal and electro-mechanical. Our workstations are similar to the HP XW8600, but are Dell's. Dual core, two 750Mb drives, 16Gb RAM and a mid level ATI FireGL card.

Solving for structure and thermal for a large assembly will require plenty of RAM memory.

If you CAD parts being analized in the FEA have fillets (blends), chamfers, multiple protrusions, then a powerful workstation is required.

The better the mesh and tetrahedron node count, the better the refined solver answers will be. Thus, a better workstation is needed.

Why let the FEA crunch for days or a week when a workstation for a few more dollars can provide an answer in a matter of a hours to a day? Time is money waiting around, don't waste it waiting for the solver to finish.

my vote goes to my Ti-86, no need to set the real memory usage prior to use or specifiy a Temp directory, and the report function acutally works.
