thread with part library

I would like to make a thread with part library on a cylindrical face but how can we define the lenght of this thread ? It takes the whole surface

Split the cylindrical face with the Machine > Imprint Edges > Linear command to replicate your desire thread length.

not really practical....

The standard machining tool seems to be more efficient... What's the advantages of such a tool ?

I thought you were trying to duplicate how Part Library for CoCreate OneSpace Modeling 2007 handles this situtation without creating extra faces on the bolt - See attached image and notice the red cylindrical face that was imprinted to identify thread length.
