I've loaded an assembly from Model Manager, not all the parts are reserved. The exploded views were created before the assembly was put into Model Manager with formations. Now I want to update some of the parts in my assembly. I've reloaded my old parts with the new parts. Some of the parts reserved and some are not. When I go to select my formation within the assembly I get the following error message -
Action failed
(sd_form_select/dsm/read_only)
If all my parts within an assembly have to be reserved in order to create formations, this is a big problem. We have assemblies that have several hundard parts.
Anyone out there have the same experience?

What I've noticed is you need to reserve the parents of any parts you plan to move in the Formation. You do not need to reserve the parts themselves, since positioning information is controlled by the parent assembly.

May is correct. In order to move any item, you must have write-access to the parent of that item, not the item itself.
