I am looking for an Icon editor that will allow for transparent background.

I have used MS Paint, but I am unable to make transparent.
Please advise.
Thanks
Bill

Hello Bill,

There are a couple of products out there that can do this I'll list a few of the ones I use here.

Paint Shop Pro 9.0
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Corel3/Products/Display&pfid=1047024307383&pid=1047023911984

IconForge
http://www.cursorarts.com/ca_if.html

Both of these products are fairly inexpensive and work really great for creating Icons of any shape, size and style.

You can also use the icon makers in both the Modeling and Drafting customization menus.

I believe the transparent color is just a particular shade of gray. In Paint, try definiing a custom color as Red=192, Green=192, Blue=192 and see if it works. This is from memory, so I'm not sure if it works.

192,192,192 is exactly the right color.

For just some own icons copy one of the BMP in the personality directory and use paint. Works for me.

There's also an empty one in the OSD's file structure
....\personality\bitmaps\bmp\blank_image.bmp
with the right 'background' color.
