Most CAD packages offer a wide variety of blending options. As of recently I have not been satified with OSDM blending abilities. There are multiple blends that a parasolids kernel can create which are impossible to create in OSDM. IE blends that lead to a zero edge. I just want to see more options for creating blends, similar to Catia V5 and UG NX options.

I agree very much with this request, I'm not satisfied about blending capability of OSDM.
I'm quite worried to know that no one has replied from the 05-03-2004!!

This probably means that we will not have any enhancement also in the 2006.

While I'm not sure we can meet the original request, I do know that the blending functionality is an area where we continously make improvements in every release. Did you report your enhancement request to CoCreate support? This is probably the best way to make sure that we know about requirements in the field.

Thanks!

As of today, OSDM can create a blend that leads to a zero edge. In 2004, CoCreate improved it's blend command dramatically with the addition of 3D CoPilots and variable radius blends/fillets. Watch demo (http://www.cocreate.com/cadence_demo.cfm#).

For 2005, customer blend modification issues were addressed extensively.

For the up and coming release, CoCreate will be delivering three complimentary webcasts to showcase what's new in 2006 for Designer Modeling, Designer Drafting and Collaboration. At that time, you will see the detailed areas where blending in Designer Modeling have been improved.

Stay tuned for the webcasts announcement or subscribe to CoCreate News (http://www.cocreate.com/newsletters.cfm) and be notified through email!

I know very well the OSDM capability to do blends and I know how many improvements Cocreate have done about blends, I'm using OSDM since the 3.5 release.

But now with the 13.20 release we still have problems about blends (please see my other message to this forum) and due to this we sometimes have to finish our project in other 3D CAD.

I hope that Cocreate will do more improvements about blends.

Thank you for the information

Thank you Gabri for the reply and I'm glad to hear that you have been an OSDM user since v3.5!

I've just talked with our support center and they (Support and R&D) would like to get their hands on your project examples where OSDM could not finish your blending needs. Providing us with the model before it was exported and also after it was finished in another 3D CAD program would be great - it's the only way we can address real customer issues.

We need more of these examples and if possible, submitting all blend issues to CoCreate Support will improve the dynamic modeling capabilities of OSDM.

Please contact your respective world wide CoCreate Support Center (http://www.cocreate.com/contact_support.cfm) to submit your blend issue. Thanks.

In the 2007 release of Modeling, improvements in blending have been made such as new edge-to-face blend conditions for ergonomic and machined products. Extra steps to create, modify or delete these blends are no longer needed in the 2007 release. See images below.
