View Full Version : What's the easiest way to change piping/wiring?

Hi,

I was trying the new features in OSD rev. 12, and I discovered that you can now change the "Major Radius" of a torus.
This would be a very interesting option for changing a "bend in a pipe", however, there seems to be no "keep tangency" option for cilinders that are connected to the torus.
Is there another trick to change the "bend radius" of a round cable or pipe???
See the picture to see what I mean...

Thanks!
Regards,
Jaap

Use the switch "chain". that will do exactly what you want.

Hi,

The chain option works great for changing the radius of the pipe itself, but I didn't manage to change the radius of the torus (the "Major Rad") with it :-(
Am I overlookiing something???
Thanks!

Jaap

I would have thought that it would be easy in version 12, but
when I went to try it I found that it is not. It took many manual
steps to change the bend radius on a simple pipe. The
Rigid Cable Advisor module can do this, but CoCreate really
needs a true cabling/piping solution.

Hi,

we use as a "true piping solution" the Pipe Bend Assistant from Klietsch. www.klietsch.com

The module is for tubes and flexible tube.

We use EMbassy from Linius for cable trees. This didn't run in Modeling. We save the design in VRML and load the VRML to EMbassy. We design the cable tree in EMbassy and save the harness in IGES. We load the IGES to the Modeling.

pkehoe,

I have read a Thread about "Linius EMbassy".

In this thread is an information about SpaceCable. I thing this is the program you are searching for. I don't know this programm.

Hi,

thanks for the tips!
We knew about SpaceCable and Rigid Cable Advisor already; the Pipe Bend Assistent and EMbassy are new to us. We'll take a look at these products!

Jaap

Dear all,

We are working hard to release the preview version of our 3D cable harnessing solution SpaceCable.

We expect to have the preview version latest on the 19th of July.

As we would like to test our solution with real customer examples, I would like to ask you, whether it is possible to get some modells (which are of course not confidential) and maybe some photos showing the cabling at the production and the expectations from your side for a cabling solution like SpaceCable.

If we could include the popular wishes early in production of SpaceCable, the product would be more usable in the future.

Thanks in advance,
Mehmet Akyar

For the 2007 release of CoCreate OneSpace Modeling, there is a new integrated module called Cabling. This product use to be known as SpaceCable, a third-party add-on developed by MIP Ltd.
