With new release, 12.xx, we can generate a PDF file without use an external PDF generator.

Are there any "hidden" parameter to customize the output?

For instance the resolution or print permission.

Thanks in advance. GiorgioL.

Giorgio,

Isn't it great to finally have pdf output without a clunky add-in? I found in the 12.x help files that there is a new command named "plot_resolution" that sets the resolution of the pdf_generic plotter to any number between 0 ... 7,200,000. The default is 720 DPI. Hope this helps on this part of your question. As to the permissions, that sounds more like an Operating System issue.

On the same subject with PDF Generic, does anyone know how to adjust the default paper sizes for it? I've tried changing the numbers in the plotdefs file with no success.

To print a portrait A4 PDF file I changed the PLOTDEFS file.
The first row 'A4' means landscape
'A4' 'HPGL_GENERIC,HPGL2_GENERIC,HPGL2_RTL_GENERIC,PDF_GENERIC' 0 0 302 215 'mono,rgb3,rgb24' '150,300' '150,300' 'me10' 'mode2'

while, in the second, 'A4P' means portrait
'A4P' 'HPGL_GENERIC,HPGL2_GENERIC,HPGL2_RTL_GENERIC,PDF_GENERIC' 0 0 215 302 'mono,rgb3,rgb24' '150,300' '150,300' 'me10' 'mode2'

In the second row the window of print is rotated.

Then I insert it just after 'A4' declaration and all is OK.
Now you have a new format but only for the printer listed above (just after 'A4P').

When you create a PDF file with Acrobat you can, for instance, lock the printing permission (a user can't print a file) or lock the mod permission (a user can't change the the file). Could it possible with the PDF_GENERIC printer?
