Hi,

On the attached picture you can see 2 "screw studs".
The lighter colored one is on a complex curved plastic part; the darker one is an example of how it has to become. I have to make a "moat" around the cilindrical part of the stud, because this prevents ugly marks on the other side of the plastic part.
It was fairly easy to model this "moat" on the example part, because this one stands on a flat face. I simply lowered the flat face with the desired radius (0.8 mm in this case), and then made a blend of 0.8 mm. After that I raised the face again by 0.8 mm, and "unchecked" Redo Blends and Keep Tan.
But the "real" stud is not on a flat face, and I can't just raise and lower it.....
Any suggestions???

Thanks!

Hi Jaap,

Did you try following :

1) Put a Workplane with option Pnt - Dir

Pnt : Any point on the bottom curve where you put the blend in your example

Dir : Edge Tangent , Edge = same curve like above
Tangent Point = same point like above

2) Intersect bottom curve with WP -> Intersection point

3) Draw a circle with the desired blending radius exactly touching the intersection point

4) FREEFORM Menu

Remove Material - Sweep
Take the bottom surve as spine

I tried it with 2 intersected cylinders on the intersection curve so the face was not flat - it worked out fine.

Attached the screen shot
(I could not attach the package file because it was > size limit)

I hope it helps
