I did not realize that the ability to run Annotator in standalone mode was made obsolete in OSDM 11.60, here is what I recieved from CoCreate Support on the issue. I thought I would pass this along to anyone else who did not know this little tidbit of info.

Curious though how the OneSpace Solution Suite 2002+ "OneSpace Designer Modeling Installing and Configuration on UNIX " manual has listed on page 3-1 the steps in which to startup Annotator in standalone mode.

Response:

This start option was made obsolete with Modeling 11.60. Here is an
explanation for your standalone Annotation problems.

"Standalone Annotation" is/was a start option of Modeling (-annotation). It
was developed in the past, to have a light weight application for users who
only do 2D work in Annotation, but do not have a platform to run Modeling
and Annotation in parallel. The purpose was to have an additional Modeling
seat, where users run Annotation standalone (without having pulled a base
Modeling license) with the add-on license Annotation.

What has changed? The start option was made obsolete with Modeling 11.60
because this functionality was only used by a few users and was expensive to
maintain. Currently hardware does not have the limitations as it did some
years ago.

So, what are the alternatives:

* Use your Modeling licenses which automatically enable
Annotation usage (no additional license needed)

* Use Drafting / 2D Access (Annotation mode) to View &
Inspect Annotation drawings

Hi Thom,
You should be able to ask to CoCreate support to receive a "standalone" license for annotation. That license will do exactly what you want for V11.6 and v11.65. It will be totally obsolete in V12.

Hope that help for now!
