Layers for hidden text?

There's a user here that would like to put text notes on his Annotation drawing, but not have them show up when printed. Normally, if this were geometry, I'd make the line black, but that would render the text invisible.

So, is there a way to do this with text? In AutoCAD, you could use layers. I don't think there is an equivalent in Annotation, but perhaps someone has a workaround?

One thing you can try that works well for us is we have set a certain color to the labels (orange = R:254, G:174, B:7) and then in our plot transformation settings we set this color to pen 0 which like the color black does not print. It works well with Labels and Doc Planes too.
