View Full Version : Text with a apostrophe (')

We are in the process of moving from ME10 Release 8.7 to
Release 11.00b.

We are experiencing the following issue with the text editor:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When a text entry is made that includes an apostrophe (')
the complete line is automatically enclosed in Quotation Marks (").

Example: "NOTES: 1) MAT'L: ALUM. 2024-T4"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there a setting in ME10 or another font that we should be
using to avoid this problem?

We have been using the font: hp_i3098_c

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

I'm not clear on what the problem is that you're having. It has always been true that if you wish to imbed a single quote in a line of text on the command line you have to enclose the line with double quotes and vice-versa. However, those double quotes don't show up in the text line that is placed on the drawing. The font shouldn't have anything to do with it, either.
I tested your example by selecting 'TEXT' from the screen menu then entering your line of text enclosed with double quotes.

Am I missing your question?

Bruce,

We are experiencing this problem when text is entered via the "Text Editor Window" (Command: WUI_ENTER_TEXT).

I understand that if you wish to imbed a single quote in a line of text on the "command line" you have to enclose the line with double quotes and vice-versa.

But, do you also need to do the same thing for text that is entered via the Text Editor Window?

This was not the case when using the "Text Editor Screen" for ME10 8.70E.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

You are right. When using the screen editor you do not need the double quotes as you do when entering text on the command line because the command line interpreter also has to check for valid commands as well as text.

However, I'm not able to reproduce the problem you describe, either in the classic or windows interface. If I enter you example line and include the enclosing double quotes, they do not appear when the text is placed on the drawing and if I do not include the double quotes they do not appear on the drawing either. The only other thing I can think of is that I'm using Rev 11.60A, which is available for download via E-Support.

Hope this helps,

Bruce
