Using Tri-Star NT Box for Solid Designer

I am about to purchase the first two seats of Solid Designer 6.0 for our Engineering Dept.. Another four seats are to follow if everything works as planned. Obviously the reseller is pushimg the HP Kayak units. Dollar wise the TriStar 400 MHz workstations running NT look interesting. Can anyone suggest whick Tri Star setup ( video card, bus, etc.) will work the best at around $4K. or less ? Also any tips on what to look out for when first buying CoCreate?

re: Using Tri-Star NT Box for Solid Designer

We are Currently running 8 Tristar Computers ranging from pentium pro's 200 mhz with 64 meg of ram, to pentium II 300 mhz with 256 meg of ram, we use the accel ecclipse card which was also purchased through Tri star. We currently use 5 of pentium Pro's 200 mhz for ME10, 2 Pentium pros 200 mhz and 1 Pentium II 300 mhz with SolidDesigner. We have had good results with the machines and the problems we have had have been resolved quickly by there tech support staff.

Bill,

just make sure you are using a certified graphics board from our support list (can't remember them all right now, but a partial list is Matrox Millenium II, Elsa Synergy, AccelEclipse, HP Visualize fx4, Diamond FireGL 3000...). Other than that, I would definitely try to get BX-based PCs (i.e with a 100 MHz bus), but this is what you are doing already. If price is the driving factor, I would currently consider the Elsa Synergy graphics board since if offers a very good price/performance ratio.

Claus
