Annotation Enhancements ?

Annotation v6.0 changed the text reference line command from a neat compact time saving command integrated into the text command, to a separate command. So now, to identify a tapped hole, instead of 7 commands from beginning to end, it's 8 commands. PLUS, I must now be careful that I draw my starting line horizontal (with 2 picks) before picking the hole my reference line is going too! This is productivity? Obviously, this enhancement (sic) did not come from machine and tool designers.

re: Annotation Enhancements ?

Hi, you are right. The creation of a 'simple' reference line has got more complicated. But with the elder version (I assume you meant 5.1) you only were able to create 'simple' reference lines (only reflines with 2 segments; system decided the attach points on a text; only 2 attach points were possible; etc.). Moreover, each text (and symbol) could own only one reference line wheras in version 6.0 this restriction doesn't exist anymore. The conclusion must be: it costs some more picks to create a simple reference line but you got the capability to create 'real' user-defined reference lines. I hope that I could convince you about the reference line improvements users got through the new SD version. Regards, Andreas Gut

re: Annotation Enhancements ?

Peter, I agree with you. With ME10's LEADER_LINE command, and a simple macro, you could drop it down to 2 picks which would cover 95% of the cases where a leader is needed. The standard LEADER_LINE or REFLINE command without a macro (although alittle cumbersome) can easily cover the other 5%. Although CoCreate does a fine job when it comes to modeling functions, they often blunder their UI's. They vastly underestimate the productivety losses caused by requiring users to wade through worse case senarios rather than designing commands for the majority of cases then providing more fleibility as an option.
