On Dec 6, 2006 several of the forum titles and descriptions were updated to reflect the new CoCreate naming scheme which was just announced. The word "Designer" has been dropped from all of the names, so the new official names starting with version 2007 will be:

CoCreate OneSpace Modeling
CoCreate OneSpace Drafting
CoCreate OneSpace Model Manager
etc.

The old names SolidDesigner and ME10 were moved from the title text to the description area since they have been obsolete for about 5 years, but people who are still running old versions with these names can continue to post under the new forum titles.

If you have any feedback, complaints, or suggestions for improvement related to the new forum titles and descriptions please post them here or click on my name to send me a Private Message or Email. Posting rants about yet another name change is also OK, but keep it clean. :D

Well

At least the names are shorter. OneSpace modeling is a whole lot easier than OneSpace Designer Modeling.

The 2007 exercise in refining the CoCreate product names can be mapped to how the company has evolved over the last 20 years - first 2D CAD (ME10), then 3D CAD (ME30 to SolidDesigner), next was the vision for engineering collaboration (OneSpace.net and OneSpace Designer Modeling) and now we've have our complete unified suite for product development (CoCreate OneSpace Suite).

For 2007... we are establishing our brand with the company name, the suite, and our products, therefore the "full" product name will always carry those three important words: CoCreate OneSpace Modeling. For CoCreate, we'll use the "short" name (OneSpace Modeling) or "single" name (Modeling) once we've written and established the "full" product name at the beginning of our documentation.

Examples
Company: CoCreate
Suite: CoCreate OneSpace Suite
Product: CoCreate OneSpace Modeling
Product: CoCreate OneSpace Drafting
Product: CoCreate OneSpace Model Manager
Product: CoCreate OneSpace Drawing Manager
Product: CoCreate OneSpace 3D and 2D Access
Product: CoCreate OneSpace Manager Server for Model and Drawing Manager
Product: CoCreate OneSpace License Server
Product: Etc.

Lastly, our approach to product lifecycle management (PLM) that we call 3rd generation PLM (3G PLM) involves Microsoft and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software companies, like SAP. This out-of-the-box solution complements ERP systems - rather than competes with them - and is the next generation for the PLM industry.
