I'm fairly new with PCB I/F and I have a few questions.
I have created many connectors and components using 3d modeling and now I want to load these parts into my PCB Assy. Can this be done? If so, can these 3d components be saved into a library for future access in PCB Modeling? Or do all parts have to be created in PCB Modeling?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

You can include any geometry you have created with OSD modeling. In fact, that is the usual way for doing it.
You can find the steps in:
.../OSD_directory/help/english/pesd.ht/pcb/eemodel.html
What is really important is that you place the geometry correctly before saving it in the library, so that it appears in the desired position when importing data from the PCB designing program (i.e. Mentor Graphics).
There is a bug in V12, which I reported to CoCreate, that makes it neccesary to draw the part in the "word origin". IŽll try to explain it.
What we used to do in previous version was:
-Draw the part.
-Move it to the world origin according to the PCB component design
-Save it into the PCB library
With this bug you must:
-Draw the part in the world origin
-Save it into the PCB database.
The difference seems to be minimun, but any error with the position means a new part. What we do is move the existing part to the world origin, create an empty part, an unite them with the empty part as the blank.
The problem with this bug is that when you recover the model from the PCB library it thoes not remember the "position" where you saved it into the library, but the one where it was first created.
Hope this helps.

Hi, I was wondering whether anyone recalls a "trick" used to import a single component geometry into PCBIF using the EIF mode. There was something about a trick to make a single component seem like it was on a PCA in order to get it to come in... someone wrote a utility to help with that...
If I import a single ascii geom in EIF mode, I am missing some of the component's LIB_PROF WPs which do come in if that same part is imported as a component on a PCA. Anyone remember this one?
