View Full Version : AVI capture for view positions
This is, probably, quite old request:
With the command
uic_edit_camera :vport "fvista1":store_camera
Is possible to capture some view and see again later
I think could be very simple to reload all the views as a film (and store in AVI ??????)
It's so very difficult to share a recognized feature in order to copy many times, of course I would like to copy it for example radial 4 times.

I'm not aware of any way to do this directly from Modeling, but you might be able to use a screen capture program such as Camtasia which can record a Windows session to an animation file. You can download a trial copy from www.techsmith.com. I tried it a couple of years ago, but the motion was somewhat jerky. However, if you have a newer faster computer the latest version may work well for you.
TechSmith also makes the very popular screen capture program SnagIt (my favorite), which has some ability to record animations, but is mostly for still image capture. If cost is an issue you might try it since it is much cheaper to register ($39 vs $299 for Camtasia).
Animation capture is definitely a feature that CoCreate needs to consider adding. Not only is it a flashy feature that makes our users want other CAD tools that have it, but it has practical applications such as illustrating assembly/manufacturing processes.

One user here did multiple screen captures, then created an animated gif file using PaintShopPro. Seems to work pretty well; the motion is smooth, although it's just a small 3D logo rather than something large.

Hi,
in the "Goodies" you can find a tool which allows capturing the viewport.
(load "capture_anim")
-> this fails in 12.00. here you can load
(load "capture_animation")
More details in [install dir]\help\Common\documentation\goodies\Readme-0111.html
Two new buttons are now available in the toolbox:
Capturing
Capture Anim
The latter one is an older goody used only for capturing dynamic relations animations.
The Capturing dialog can be used for preparing capturing animations in relations, bend animations and animations in Design Advisor.
It also adds the basic functionality of capturing which can be accessed via
(OLI::capture-image)
If you customize a button which triggers this function it becomes very handy to create images for an animation.
To combine the images (bmp) I use a tool called Antechinus Animator (more info http://www.c-point.com).
Hope this helps.
