problems with deleting calculated geometry

In many of my annotation views, I need some of the hidden lines but not all.

I delete the hidden lines I do not use by deleting calculated geometry, with the Hidd Supp button activated in the select tool.

After placing a window around what I need to delete, I have to wait a very long time for the seleciton to complete. After I am done selecting, then I have to wait a long time for the actual deletion. I have waits as long as 20 minutes.

Is there a better method of doing this that will not take up so much time?

Perhaps it's quicker to change the color of the lines? We have defined a "no show" color (RGB 0,.4,.4) and a pen transformation so that color doesn't plot.
