I don't know how many people saw the recent spam that hit this site. Thanks go to Claus for quick action banning the spammer's user name before they added too many posts. Several vBulletin sites were hit, see the recent posts in this thread (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=65790) in the vBulletin forum for details.
I have activated a new feature in version 2.3.0 which will hopefully cut down on this kind of spamming in the future. It requires anyone trying to register to enter a random string of characters displayed in a graphic image. You may have seen this type of security at other sites. It probably won't stop all of the spammers, but will hopefully stop the spam bots that register automatically. At least until they find some way around this method of protection.
