We are using windows 2000, and nt 4.0 with OSDM 11.50.
In windows 2000 while In annotoator if the cancel (double x) button is hit twice, OSDM will either shut down or lock the computer. We do not have this same problem on NT 4.0.
This problem has been tested on all of our 2000 machines with the same result.
Has anyone else experienced this, or know of a fix?
Thanks

Never heard of such a problem so far, but then, there's always a first time .-)
If an application manages to lock up or crash the complete system, a faulty/unstable driver or system component is involved in pretty much 100% of the cases. The "blue screen of death" which is displayed when the system crashes contains valuable information which often points directly to the problem and to the responsible code module.
Make sure that your systems are NOT configured to restart automatically when a crash occurs (switch off My Computer/System Properties/Startup and Recovery/Automatically Reboot). Then crash the system and take notes from the data on the blue screen, especially the stacktrace which is displayed and the first two or three lines of information on the screen. See also the article at http://www.winntmag.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=301&pg=3 on how to interpret the BSOD information.
Post this information here, and maybe we have a good chance of identifying what's going on.
Hope this helps,
Claus

Sorry
I should have been more specific. The machine freezes and does not respond to the mouse or keyboard. Break, or ctrl-alt-del have no effect.
This only happens with Windows 2000. We do not have this problem with any of our NT 4.0 machines.
Thanks

You say that the problem occurs only if you hit the Cancel All icon twice - so you're double-clicking it?
I'll try this sequence when I'm back in the office, but I guess I would have heard about this before if it was a common issue.
Hmmm... do you have special mouse drivers in the system? Does it occur for all users or only one particular user? Does the same also happen when running previous or more recent versions of OSDM?

Uh, oh. I can now reproduce some weird behavior. I have to double-click the "Cancel All" button a couple of times before it happens, but indeed there seems to be something wrong here: After a few double-clicks, OSDM no longer properly responds to clicks in the UI. The system as a whole, however, remains stable and responsive, so this is not exactly the issue that you are describing.
Quite an unsettling bug. I submitted an internal bug report right away. It still doesn't explain your system freezes, though 8-(

Thanks, I will let those with windows 2000 know.
