Translating AutoCAD Solids to SD?

Has anyone had luck transferring solids from Mechanical Desktop Version 2 or 3 into SD V5.1? If so, which translator and what settings on both ends? We have tried IGES and only get corrupt face parts.

Not the answer you want, but I used SD6.0 and exchanged ACAD files using STEP. Incidentally it also worked using CATIA and I could also still modify a model going either direction.
