If I have a steped cylinder I can not use the align command to take the step out. I get a "face sense is not OK" error with the check part on. If I proceed with the check part off then I get a corupt part with a edge smaller then resolution. Can anyone tell me why this is and can it be fixed in the future?

If all you have is just a stepped cylinder I suggest recreating the part as an unstepped cylinder. The other option is to change the diameter of the sections that aren't correct and it should blend itself in. I don't understand why you would use the align command to remove a feature in a part. If I missed the point, please clarify.

Kurt- If you click "help" on the align command, you will see that align cannot be used to change the "topology" of a part. You intend to change the stepped cylinder (having 3 edges) to a simple cylinder (having 2 edges). This is a change of topology. So you should use "cut" instead. You can cut two faces from the part to get your desired result. Cut the cylinder face you want to change and the step face joining the two cylinders. The remaining faces will grow and intersect to form the simple cylinder you want. -Doug

Thanks for the info guys. Doug your explnation of the reason for it not working was very helpful. The cut face command works well. I also found that you can use the move face command (move 2 pts.) on the flat face and resolve the situation that way as well. Thanks again.
