Well Pro-E won the battle that CoCreate wasn't allowed to fight. It looks like I'm going to be trying to learn Pro-E now but I'm not happy about it. I've been using ME10 for 10 years and SolidDesigner for a little over 5 years. CoCreate has the best and easiest to learn CAD software I've ever seen. So good bye my friends, maybe I will get to use your product again sometime soon (when my company figures out that how big of a mistake they made). Til then, good luck. Also if anybody needs a designer down here in the Mid-South area, please e-mail me.

Mark, How did they win? What was your company looking at and where you given a change to let SoldiDesigner do it thing?

It was all political. Our new director of engineering was the a department manager of a group that had 5 or six seats of Pro-E. That group had a very common product line (most of the parts were the same, with just a couple of dim changes, longer, wider etc.) So when he took over he said that everybody was going to switch to Pro-E so we will all be the same (now we have three different groups, AutoCAD - about 20 seats, Pro-E - about 6 seats, SolidDesigner - 6 seats, ME10 - 23 seats). So without knowing much if anything about SD or ME10, he called in his old group to get their opinion and then Pro-E to give their sales pitch to his bosses. So now we have been told we will be switching to Pro-E and to learn to use it or leave. He doesn't seem to understand that we have some older engineers who have a hard time using ME10, so how in the world are they going to find their way around all of the Pro-E menus!

Mark, you have sympathies. We experienced much the same kind of process a couple of years ago. SolidDesigner hadn't yet developed into the system it is today so Pro won quite easily. Fortunately CC may get a second chance in the near future. I will seriously consider calling in a company like United Systems to do the demos/benches etc. They seem to know the system well and that is what wins orders. But everyone should realise that Pro IS good at parametrics! SD is good with topologies. There should be room for both systems in most companies. Darren

Mike Rayburn, How is your battle going with Pro-E ? You posted a message asking for help at the beginning of the month.
