Most users may know that a workplane is just 2D geometry and have probably imported MI data from ME10 to use for generating models, but you can also use workplanes in reverse. By projecting a face(s) onto a workplane or performing a cross section, the 2D geometry generated in the workplane can be saved using SAVE 2D DATA and then loaded into ME10 for plotting at various scales, generating faxable images, etc. This is a quick and dirty alternative to having to generate a full layout and gives you the flexibility to pick the faces you want from the parts you want. For complex parts, layout is probably a better choice, but for quick checks, I have found this to be useful.

I also find this useful. I had at one time made a macro that pushed the workplane to me10 and visa-versa. It was deleted accidentally during one of our upgrades and I have not yet recreated it. It would be a great enhancement to build into the code though. It would be nice if it would work between SD and annotator also.
