One of our drafters in working on a solid in SD 4.02 and has received the following message after issueing the check part command. "Approaching max file size, save part and exit" following the instruction and trying to save a second message is sent "action failed save_session/signal/sigill" Is there a way to "clean-up" this solid before saving or is that the purpose of "check part" the file size is 657,111.

Steve,
once SolidDesigner runs out of memory for some reason, the system will become unstable after a while. You should usually be able to save your current model, however. Two suggestions: Increase the internal memory limit for model data using (memory-limit :data 300) (this sets the internal memory limit to 300 MB; make sure that you have at least this much swap space on your system). Second, you might want to check the part with a more current version of SolidDesigner. The body checker has been improved over the past few versions and finds many more potential problems, so you will get better diagnostics. If you send me the file, for example, I could have it checked by SD 6.0 to see whether we find any problems with it.
Claus

Steve, you may also try and save the part out as a package or even an IGES file. ie. any thing rather than quiting Solid and losing your data. (hint: save often) If the problem happens when you are tring to save a package, try and save out a smaller package. (just the parts you know you have modified) One last thing if you do manage to save don't keep on modeling. Get out of Solid and check for core dumps or other large files in your temp directoy before you restart Solid.
