I would like to model a plastic molded part that has some secondary machining operations. I would like to have two drawings, one for the "as molded" part and another for the machined version. Right now I have two different models for the molded and machined parts and everytime I make a design change I have to change both parts and hope I don't make any mistakes. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks in advance, Eric Johnson (707) 664-9050 x-154

Eric, this is rather long but here goes. -Take your molded part and make your layout and do your drawing as usual. -Create a assembly of "tool parts" that are representative of the secondary machining operations. -Save out the package now (Don't forget to "clear view" the layout) -Subtract the tool parts from the molded part (This can be one operation if the tools are in there own assembly) -Now update the layout again and transfer it to the machined part drawing in ME10. -DO NOT save the SolidDesigner package with the parts subtracted. Now if there is a modification you can just modify the plastic part and repeat the above or modify the "tool" and proceed as above. This is kind of a work around but it works fairly well.
