Hp-catlock hp-catfile files

ME-10 leaves behind hp-catlock and hp-catfile files whenever you read or write a file. There are some directories where we would prefer not to leave theses little "ME-DROPPINGS". Is there some function that can be used inside a macro to temporarily suspend the creation of these files?

With ME10 8.7 an environment variable (MECATFILE) has been added. It is OFF by default and consequently ME10 8.7 will NOT create hp_catfile and hp_catlock.
