Does anyone know what plotters and printers would support pixel files printing within an MI file and how do you setup the plotter/printer to print the pixels. Have tried with Designjet 600, Xerox 8830 & various Laserjet printers but no luck yet.

The filetype generated by ME10 is HPGL/RTL. It contains vector and pixeldata. My Xerox-dealer said it is not possible to print such files directly. There are to ways to do it: first: use ME-Hybrid. It's a module for ME10 that makes it possible to work comfortable whith pixel-files in ME 10. For printing it produces TIF-Files. second: use a converterprogramm, that can convert HPGL/RTL into TIF. The plotter needs to be able to read RTL (raster transfer language) files. That is a subset of PCL files above a certain number (3 or 4 I don't remember). Obviously the 7600 will print these files (it is a RTL plotter). Other plotters that can handle RTL will work too. JDL 3000E, hp laserjet 4V will also print these files. The instructions for setting up the printers are a little sparse. Read the RTL book (you can get it from HP). It describes how to place RTL and vectors on the same sheet. That takes a little trickery in the scripting. good hunting.
